Yes, Mom, Dad is Still Around

Shortly before my father passed, my mom, an avid reader, read a review of a book called “Soul of a Spirit Warrior”. What caught her attention was: 1) The author is of Italian descent. (Both sets of my grandparents are from Sicily.) 2) The author lives in San Diego only a couple miles from my mother’s home. The fact that the author is Italian would probably have been enough for my mother to buy the book!
Part way into the book, my mother asked me if I had ever heard of a certain word. She spelled out R-E-I-K-I. I explained Reiki is a form of energy medicine. This and other questions opened up a depth of spiritual communication we had not shared previously. I was grateful for the opportunity to share what happens after we pass and my experiences with those on the other side.
My father had a stroke at the beginning of November, 2021. I spent several days with him before he passed on the 11th. After he passed, I could feel he was close to me for 2-3 weeks. All I had to do was think about him and he was there, ready to share and communicate. I must say, it was an adjustment for me.
One of the first times he came through (By the way, there are many more stories of his presence. Many that involve his practical jokes on the family. These will be stories for later blog posts.) he had a message for my mom. The message escapes me now, however, I did ask him if he would like to have a sign to show her that he is near. He showed me a red rose. I shared this with my mom around 1:00 pm. Around 3:00 pm my sister sent an email to my mom and I. It had a picture attached of my parents with a big bouquet of red roses! My sister later told me she had lost the picture and had just found it.
That night my mom woke up at 11:11, the date my dad passed. She said she couldn’t believe it and thought the clock was broken. She watched it until the time changed. She asked “Do you think that is a message from dad?”
The next day at dinner I nearly fell off my chair. My husband and I have a tradition of alternating pulling cards from spiritual decks, or, he reads a short bible lesson from “Our Daily Bread”. It was the day for pulling cards. Our daughter was visiting, so this time three cards were drawn, one by each person. When I turned mine over, I could not read past the title “A Father’s Love”. I turned to my husband and said I could not read the paragraph on the card and for him to turn his card over. The title was "Hello From Heaven"! Forget reading that paragraph as well! I was too emotional and raw from my dad's recent passing. The card our daughter pulled was "You Are Not Alone"! Wow!!!!!
